Akon took off shirt on stage, a la Salman Khan

Gurgaon, April 17 (IANS) International pop star Akon threw open his black shirt and his black vest just the way our own star Salman Khan does in movies and on stage.

What followed thereafter, was a sight to behold! Hundreds of boys ended up removing their t-shirts and shirts and swayed it in the air, as the Senegalese-American singer sang 'Take it off' at his grand concert here Saturday night.

'If you are a true Akon party animal, take off your shirts!' Akon shouted out to all his fans.

Seconds later, a whole lot of men in the 2000 plus crowd bared their chest, and waved their shirts and t-shirts in the air in sync with Akon. There were yellow, red, black, white, blue shirts in the air all over the HUDA Grounds here.

The girls were only going crazy as Akon stripped down to a fit, toned bare chest.

As if the excitement wasn't already enough, Akon threw his shirt, and several people jumped to catch it. His vest followed and everyone seemed to want to grab the sweat-drenched piece of his clothing.

Akon set his Indian fans in a party mood as he belted out popular hits like 'Don't matter', 'Ghetto', 'Smack that', 'I Wanna love you', 'Dangerous' and 'Beautiful', among others.

The pop star turned 38 Friday, and was in full mood to party hard. He went crowd surfing in a transparent balloon, and later all by himself, letting his fans get a full feel of the Akon magic.

After all this acton, he was quite tired and demanded water too. But Akon was considerate enough to offer water to his fans as well - but in a different way.

He threw open at least 20 bottles of water and splashed it all over the crowd that stood right in front of the stage, and later even shared the cake he cut for his 38th birthday at the venue.

Thanks to the concert, Akon has left behind memories of being a people's person - and said he would love to return to India next year.

And in a way he lifted the spirit of music lovers who were disappointed after the cancellation of Bryan Adams concert here a few months ago.

'Delhi, you're all party animals!' he admitted before leaving.

He was invited to India for the concert organised by Netsurf Entertainment, B.M. Group and IVNO Events and Productions in association with Thrive Entertainment and S. Raj Entertainment. He will perform in Bangalore Sunday.

Koena Mitra plays a bisexual in her first Hollywood project, ‘The Story of Naomi’

Koena Mitra was last in news when she had a milkshake named after her. Since then, the news columns have been missing her as the girl had shifted her base to LA and was hunting hard for a Hollywood project. After putting in a lot of efforts, the girl has started her first Hollywood film, Story of Naomi, being produced by Michael Hirshenson of the When Harry Met Sally fame and directed by the ace fashion photographer Ash Gupta.
The movie has Koena play a bisexual girl who gets attracted to men and women equally. The movie also features actor Kevin Sorbo and Chris Devicchio. The first poster of the film shows Koena getting intimate with another girl.
Producer Hirshenson is all praises for Koena and says, “She looks international and her discipline and hard work can take her places. It all depends on how much she’s ready to learn.”
And it seems, the producer is quite right as this model-turned-actress has worked on her accent and was taking classes for it as the West puts more stress on dubbing and other technicalities.

Aishwarya Rai to work with Rituparno Ghosh once again

Aishwarya Rai has already worked with National Award-winning director Rituparno Ghosh in ‘Chokher Bali’ and ‘Raincoat’ and has been appreciated by critics for her performance in both the flicks. Once again, she will work under the direction of Ghosh, this time for the role of a bandit queen in the adapted film version of Devi Chaudhurani.
Devi Chaudhurani is a novel by Bengali writer Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1884 and is regarded as one of the most popular novels of its times. In order to get a grip into her character, Ash has asked for the DVDs of Suchitra Sen’s film which is about how a typical affluent housewife turns into the leader of a pack of dacoits.
Ghosh and Ash have sat together a couple of times to work on the storyline of the film and how it should be adapted in a modern context and now, as the script has been finalized and handed over to Ash, she is about to allot dates for the shooting. The film will in all probability be a Hindi-Bengali bilingual.

Things seem to be getting bigger for ‘Leader’ Rana. His two big flicks - Dum Maro Dum (Bollywood debut) and Nenu Naa Rakshasi are gearing for release shortly. Much is expected from these two films as they are coming from big banners with big star cast.

On the other hand, another buzz is making rounds in the film circle. Sources say that Rana is likely to play an important role in Hrithik Roshan's forthcoming film 'Krissh-2', the sequel to the blockbuster ‘Krrish” If this true, then the ‘Leader’ Star will play a negative lead role in the film.

It is leant that Rakesh Roshan already had a talk with Rana and finalized everything in their next discussions it seems.  Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra, who played lead roles in ‘Krrish’ will play the roles in the sequel. ‘Krrish 2’ is touted to be a big-budget superhero science fiction film. Kangana Ranaut disappears with Gerad Butler….

The unit and crew of Vinay Sapru’s Happy New Year returned from Los Angeles without their leading lady Kangna Ranaut. Well, they even had some juicy news for us…. Kangna’s impromptu holiday with Gerad Butler.
First the 300 actor became friends with Priyanka Chopra, then Ranbir Kapoor and now he’s been spotted with Kangana!

A source from the unit told, “Kangna was with Butler at the airport. She was supposed to come back with us in the same flight. But she didn’t. Possibly, the two got into another flight. She did not tell anybody from the unit where she was headed.”

The lead actor of Happy New Year, Sunny Deol was also there at the time. “Sunny is least affected by such things. He is always in his own space. He was least bothered. He didn’t even ask where Kangna and Gerard were headed,” added our source.

Tamanna Bhatia to pair Ram Charan Teja?

Rumour mills are working overtime saying that Tamanna Bhatia will be pairing Ram Charan Teja in his next film. It also adds that the actress has sealed the deal to play the female lead role in the film.

Reports claim that Tamanna Bhatia is all set to act opposite Ram Charan Teja for the first time. It is said that she has recently signed on the dotted line. Earlier, it was reported that Isha Chawla of Prema Kavali has been roped in to play the leading lady in the film.

However, the movie is directed by Sampath Nandi of 'Emaindi Ee Vela' fame and produced by N V Prasad. Devi Sri Prasad is scoring the music. The movie is said to be released on April 25th.

Ra.One - Preview

Ra.One has been in the news for more reason than one. Shahrukh Khan not only produces but also plays the lead role in the film. It is a science fiction superhero flick with lots of stunts. So, some even claim that it resembles superstar Rajinikanth's hit film Robot. Ra.One means Random Access - Version 1.0 and Shahrukh plays a superhero named G.One with Kareena Kapoor as his heroine.

Anubhav Sinha is directing this action flick which has lots of special effects and graphic works. The first trailer of the film has created wave among the film lovers and fans of the actor. The film is expected to have a song sang by International singer Akon. It is scheduled for release this Diwali, on October 26.

Katrina finally admits her split with Salman

Katrina Kaif has never admitted of her relationship with Salman Khan in the past eight years. They have acted together and she was like a permanent fixture at his place, but she always maintained that they were good friends. However, on Tuesday she finally admitted in a daily that she has split with the Dabangg actor.

An industry source revealed, “On Monday, an article in a morninger carried quotes from a very old interview of Kat, in which she had spoken about her closeness with Salman. This did upset the actress, who is trying very hard to maintain a professional relation with her ex.”

The actress made a few calls to her higher-ups in the industry and said that she wanted to clear the air about Salman. The following day she gave an interview where she admitted of her split with Salman and it was flashed on the front page of the tabloid under the title: For the first time.

So, now the question comes: Why did Katrina finally come clean about Salman? An insider says, “That interview made matters embarrassing for her. She is dating Ranbir now, and the Kapoor Khandaan have welcomed her into their fold. How would she explain an interview about Salman being a ‘4 am friend’?”

Her confession about her break-up was a face-saving attempt.

A close source to the actress added, “When Kat read an article about Salman and her closeness, she was very upset. She does not want to send out the wrong signals to Ranbir or his family. She is not with Sallu anymore. Though Salman and Kat broke up long ago, they continue to be friends. She appreciates all that he has done for her, and they will always be there for one another. After the latest being human show he even asked her to party with his friends, but she denied it as she had an early morning flight. Though Kat and Salman are still in touch with one another, but they are no more romantically involved and she does not want to give a wrong impression to anyone.”

Deepika’s New Look for Dabboo Ratnani Calendar

The famous Bollywood photographer Dabboo Ratnani’s annual 2010 calendar is out. This is the 11^th year where he has captured all the top celebrities for his trademark calendar. The calendar this year will have a black-and-white theme.

Deepika Padukone’s picture looks like she is not wearing anything, since all the body parts you see are bare. Dabboo Ratnani says, “I wanted to make her look sensual, but aesthetic. Last year, I shot her in a sari, so this is in total contrast. She strikes a thinking, dreamy pose, and I have used lighting to match her mood. Normally Bollywood is associated with bright colors. Black and white images are of the bygone eras but I opted for a stark B&W mood in the snapshots is dark but the styling modem.”

Every year, Dabboo starts his preparations in October. Although, he has many interactions with the celebrities for their shots for magazines, movies and portfolios, every year all of them take time out for the calendar. Ratnani says, “The shoot provides the stars a platform to experiment with their looks and styling.” The 2010 calendar includes celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Kajol, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, John Abraham, Sonam Kapoor and Kangna Ranaut.

The celebrities who are making their first appearance in this calendar are Asin, Farhan Akhtar, Genelia D’Souza and Imran Khan. Dabboo does not want to comment on which star is looking the best. He says, “They are all my friends and go out of their way to cooperate. For me they all look hot.” Dabboo Ratnani is not interested in selling his calendar in the market, it is exclusively made for the Bollywood celebrities.

Karan Puts Hrithik in Big B’s Shoes

Director-producer Karan Johar plans to remake 90’s blockbuster Agneepath. For the lead role of Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, Karan has approached Hrithik Roshan. In the original film the role was played by Amitabh Bachchan. Karan is also making Hindi remake of Hollywood hit film Stepmom, for which he had to pay high amount to buy its rights. But for the remake of Agneepath he doesn’t need to buy the rights as it was made by his home production. The original film was produced by his late father Yash Johar and directed by Mukul Anand starring Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty and Danny Denzongpa.
One source revealed, “Karan has been planning to remake Agneepath but he was waiting for the right time. Now, he is confident that his company, Dharma Productions, can make multiple films at the same time. The film will be directed by Karan Malhotra, who Karan thinks is one of his most promising assistants. While some changes will be made in the script to give it a contemporary feel, Karan does not want to change any dialogue as he is very confident of the dialogue in the original Agneepath.”
“Surprisingly, Karan has not approached Abhishek Bachchan to play Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, which was played by the actor’s father in the original. While Hrithik is still deciding if he wants to star in the remake, Karan is sure that Hrithik is the perfect choice. However, the Dharma Productions team is yet to decide on the actors who will play Krishnan Iyer MA, played by Mithun Chakraborty, and Kancha Cheena, played by Danny Denzongpa, in the original,” the source added later.
However Hrithik’s business manager, Ashok Vashodia said, “Karan and Hrithik are extremely close. They keep discussing various projects. However, I am unaware of any offer as far as Agneepath is concerned.”

The Rockstar of Bollywood, Ranbir Kapoor has finally clinched the Sexiest Asian Man title, beating some strong competitors like John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan.

This Kapoor scion, who is famous for his high profile romances, topped the survey, which was conducted by the London Weekly, Eastern Eye.

The 28-year-old heartthrob of the nation says, “If the women did not like me I would feel that something is wrong, but it does feel good. I do understand that the fans I have comprise mainly of women, it feels good to be wanted by so many women.”

Meanwhile the editor of Eastern Eye said that the actor had claimed for this title with an overwhelming margin. The editor said, “Usually it is a closely fought contest, where as this year there was only one clear winner. Winning by large margin is remarkable when you take into consideration the very high profile men who were in the list.”

Ranbir made his acting debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Saawariya. He has been going strong post his launch and has tasted every bit of the commercial success with hits like Rajneeti, Wake Up Sid and Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani.

The Bollywood hunk John Abraham missed this spot and landed second on this. Hrithik Roshan got the third spot while R&B star Jay Sean got the fourth spot.

SRK: ‘If Salman is upset with me, then it is my fault’

Karan Johar completely broke down when SRK started speaking about his former friends Farah Khan and Salman Khan. The episode of Koffee with Karan will air on January 2.

A source on the sets says, “SRK’s episode with KJo is emotional where Shahrukh Khan has been caught in a mellow, introspective mood. He is emotionally vulnerable, revelaing things that have hurt him in the last year.”

The source continued to add, “When Karan pointed out people feel that old friends Farah Khan and Salman have problems with Shahrukh Khan, SRK said, ‘I don’t know how to make friends and if I did and I have no clue how to keep them. If Salman and Farah are upset with me then it is 100 percent my fault, but I can’t pick up the phone and say sorry. I cannot apologize because I have ego issues, but because I cannot say get myself to ask people to come back to me. Once I did ask my parents to come back to me and they did not.”

He also admitted that one of his biggest enemies is his cell phone as many of his friends have complained that he does not take their calls and ignores them. At one point Karan had tears in his eyes when SRK said, “I feel it is understood that I love them if I have said it once, I cannot keep repeating it. I have some problem in saying ‘I Love You’ twice and thrice and keep repeating those words. Even in my movies I can never keep saying ‘I Love You!’”

KJo said, “It was totally a different cup of coffee this time. it is really awkward to discuss and recreate all those intimate scenes normally again. Till date I have never become emotional on the sets of Koffee with Karan, because that has never been the tone of the show. It is usually controversial and spicy.”

When asked about SRK on the couch he says, “SRK is one of the warmest human beings I have seen in this industry, he has spoken openly about his family, friends and relationships. There is some strength in what he said. He is beyond any kind of issues. You can feel that he has risen above every situation and this comes beautifully through this show. This coffee on the couch episode with SRK was emotionally unplugged and more than humor unplugged. It has a new impact!”

Shahid Kapoor is sexy and he is a vegetarian. Shahid appears with chicks in the new ad for PETA. He has been voted as Bollywood’s sexiest vegetarian by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
The new PETA ad has Shahid Kapoor holding two downy chick on the palms of his hands. The punchline in the ad reads: “Chicks Love A Vegetarian”.
“I love chicks…pigs, cows, fish, and all the other animals too. That’s why I turned vegetarian,” Shahid is quoted as saying.
The promo shows Shahid, 30, dressed in a white buttoned down dress shirt with sleeves casually rolled up, holding two chicks on his palm.
The ad, that repeatedly focuses on Shahid’s unshaven chest, was shot by Atul Kasbekar.
Shahid has been vegetarian for many years and was adjudged PETA India’s Sexiest Vegetarian in 2009.
“I am very happy being a vegetarian and I believe that it is the best way to be. The day I started believing in the fact that I would want not to kill animals for my taste buds that is the day everything changed for me,” Shahid said.

Akshay Kumar bags a Rs 23 crore deal…

Even after delivering a string of box office duds, the producers have no problem paying Akshay Kumar big bucks. This shows he is still Hot and Happenin.
The latest buzz doing the rounds is that Akki will be paid a huge amount of Rs 23 crore for the sequel of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai. This has tagged him as Bollywood’s sabse mehnga hero.
The OUATIM sequel will go on floors in December. It will be directed by Milan Luthria and produced by Ekta Kapoor.
Not just Akshay but Salman Khan has also reportedly bagged a deal for Rs 21 crores for brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri’s film Bodyguard, and he is also a partner in profits.
It is really surprising to see Akshay taking away such a huge sum despite his movies being a dud at the box office.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Hema Malini????

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been offered to play Hema Malini’s role in the remake of Satte Pe Satta, which will be produced by Sanjay Dutt and directed by Soham Shah.
However, it has been about two months since and she is yet to come back with a definite answer.
A source told, “Soham has given her a two-and-half hour narration of the script. She seemed interested and promised to get back. But after that, she has still not given a confirmed response.”
The source added, “It’s time that Aishwarya clearly tells Sanjay and Soham if she is interested in doing the film or not.
Only then can they arrange the dates of every other actor in the film. Sanjay and Soham are very much keen to have her on board.”
Now, this has left Sanjay Dutt is in a fix. In order not to offend Mrs Rai Bachchan, he is not approaching any other heroine. he is waiting for a yes or a no from Ash.

A.R.Rehman charges Rs.1.6 crores for Naga Chaitanya’s new film 100% LOVE!!

It’s a known fact that A.R.Rehman composesd music for less no.of direct Telugu film. But that’s about to change now. First trailer: Naga Chaitanya, Tamanna as cute couple in ‘100% Love’

The new lover boy of Telugu cinema Naga Chaitanya has paired up for the first time with the beautiful Tamanna for the romantic film 100% Love which is produced by Geeta Arts. There was a lot of speculation about the film as it was not getting the suitable title. The working title of the film, however, was strangely called Production 31.

Director Sukumar of Arya fame has directed the film and after considering several titles finally named the movie '100% Love'. The producers say this is a 100 percent apt title for the movie’s theme and story. Allu Aravind’s Geeta Arts, after delivering blockbuster after blockbuster like Jalsa, Ghajini and Magadheera are expecting the film to get a bumper start.

The music of the film is by music director Devisri Prasad and its audio was launched recently on the occasion of Ugadi. Youngsters are loving the music of the film as well as its look. Newcomer Tara Alisha, a girl from Bangalore, plays the second lead in the film.

Tamanna and Naga’s cute and smashing chemistry is the USP of the film. Both play college-goers who fall in love with each other. The movie is releasing this April 29.

Genelia gets READY once again! !!

Genelia D’ Souza is all set to thrill her Tamil fans again. If sources are to be believed, the actress is to star opposite Dhanush in a Tamil film that will be a remake of the Telugu super hit Ready. Genelia had played the lead role in Ready as well. The film is to be directed by Jawahar, who is also directing Kutty, Dhanush’s next film. Jawahar had earlier directed the hit Yaaradi Nee Mohini, which also had Dhanush playing the lead. The Ready remake is special to Jawahar, as it will earn him the unique distinction of being a director who has managed to direct three consecutive movies with the same hero playing the lead.

Venkatesh, Trisha Combo to Repeat Again

Victory Venkatesh is again having Trisha as his lady love in his new film which is set to begin in the month of April. The movie will be directed by “Don Seenu” fame Gopichand Malineni and will be produced by Bellamkonda suresh under Sri Saiganesh Productions banner. This film would be the 3rd film in Venky-Trisha combination.

ANR Receives Honorary Doctorate from DBHP Sabha.

Dr.Akkineni Nageswara Rao who is popularly called as ANR has got the honorary doctorate from the Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha on Monday in Chennai at the 74th convocation of the institution for his contributions to South Indian Cinema.

Ravi Teja paid 3.5 Crores as IT penalty

RGV's 'Oka Prema Katha' with Mahie Gill

Ramgopal Varma who is on a movie announcement spree has declared that he will be making a film titled 'Oka Prema Katha' soon. Varma informed that the story of this film is based on the murder of a husband by his wife Maria Susairaj on May 7th, 2008 in Mumbai.

When contacted, Varma confirmed, "The Maria Susairaj case has always fascinated me in the context, of how two everyday ordinary people can kill another man, cut his body into pieces and then douse the body parts in kerosene.

According to me, it is one of the most brutal and horrifying murder stories I have heard in my life. It made me curious and so I did some research on the case. I spoke to the friends and relatives of both the parties - the accused and the victim.

I also spoke to the investigators. To my shock, I found out that underneath this most heinous crime, there is actually an incredible love story.

It was love, which triggered the murder, drove them to cut the body and turned them into such dreadful souls.

The technicians and other star cast for this film are yet to be finalised.
